Sikrosky’s S-76C series, S-76D and S-92A rotorcraft have received offshore and utility type certificates from Colombia’s civil aviation authority, Sikorsky parent Lockheed Martin said. Unidad Administrativa Especial de Aeronáutica Civil’s (UAEAC) certificate allows the country’s commercial aviation operators to use the helicopters for human and cargo transport to and from oil and gas rigs, and for regional airline passenger and VIP transportation.

The certificate was signed at the beginning of November after completion of a flight test program. Colombia is familiar with Sikorsky’s products, havin operated Black Hawks for more than two decades. The company also has training and support facilities in Melgar, Colombia.
