The Transportation Research Board (TRB) 2017 Annual Meeting is slated for Jan. 8 to 12, with Monday bearing several hours of helicopter-specific discussions. Hosted at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C., the Annual Meeting plans a convening of the Aviation Noise and Vibration Joint, and Civil Helicopter subcommittees.

Natalia Sizov of the FAA will preside over the Aviation Noise and Vibration Joint Subcommittee event, planned from 10:15 a.m. until noon. It is sponsored by the Standing Committee on Transportation-Related Noise and Vibration, Subcommittee on Aviation Noise and Vibration and the Standing Committee on Environmental Impacts of Aviation. The meeting will start with introductions, staff announcements and related organizational and sponsor updates. Subcommittee work is to follow, which includes the triennial strategic plan, key results of 2016, research and future work, among other agenda items. Presentations, starting 11 a.m., are to cover findings and other overviews from the Airport Cooperative Research Program and virtual reality. A question-and-answer period and an open discussion will close out the event.

From 3:45 p.m. until 5:30 p.m., Vector Aerospace’s Les Clark is set to preside over a Civil Helicopter Subcommittee Meeting. Clark chairs the subcommittee, with Christine Gerencher as the TRB staff representative. It is a subcommittee of the Standing Committee on Light Commercial and General Aviation, which is chaired by Rolland Vincent, president of Rolland Vincent Associates, LLC.
