Launched in 2016, the academy is a three-week, immersive training program that features a dedicated fleet of Cessna Skycatchers and certificated flight instructors.
A spring session will take place May 20 through June 10, and a fall session will take place Sept. 9 through 30. The third session, which takes place in August, is reserved for recipients of a scholarship for former Young Eagles, EAA said on its website.
The $9,999 fee includes all ground and flight training, housing on the EAA grounds, and meals. “A variety of activities are included that make this a once-in-a-lifetime experience: cockpit climbs in the museum, guest speakers, flight experiences in EAA aircraft, and even getting your picture taken on one of Wittman Regional Airport’s ‘dots,’” EAA said.
After registering for the sport academy, participants must complete an online ground school that is included in the total cost, and take and pass the FAA knowledge test, before they arrive at Oshkosh.
