Iran Air has taken delivery of a second Airbus A330-200, two weeks after its first of the type arrived in Tehran.

The flag-carrier says it received the Rolls-Royce Trent 700-powered aircraft at the capital’s Mehrabad airport on 25 March, five days into the Iranian new year.

Registered EP-IJB, the aircraft is a three-year old airframe which – like the previous Iran Air A330 – was originally delivered to Avianca in 2014 but not put into service.

The two A330s will complement an order for 36 A330s placed by Iran Air last year, as part of a broader agreement for 100 Airbus jets.

Iran Air, which took delivery of an A321 earlier this year, is also intending to take 80 aircraft from Boeing and at least 20 from ATR.
