The Marenco Swisshelicopter SKYe SH09 has a third launch customer, the company said. Norway’s Tronrud Engineering AS has signed on to operate the single-turbine rotorcraft for utility and logistics missions in support of development of the Eggemoen Aviation & Technology Park, a multi-use industrial facility home to a various business communities in Hønefoss, Norway. The complex even has an airport.
There are two previous launch customers for the new aircraft in Europe — both in Switzerland. Marenco said that small groups can benefit from collaboration with the manufacturer, both throughout program development and for the phase into operations.
The SKYe SH09 is a multirole aircraft, featuring a full glass cockpit, dual hydraulic system and dual electrical circuit. At a base price around $3 million, the 2.65-ton helicopter will compete against the Leonardo AW119, Bell Helicopter 407 and Airbus Helicopters H130 and H125. Its full-carbon airframe is bringing advantages in cabin volume, payload and safety.
The SH09 is designed to accommodate a pilot and up to seven passengers. It is equipped with a 1,020 shp (760 kW) Honeywell HTS900-2 turboshaft with FADEC that enables a cruise speed of 140 kt.
