Russia’s State Transport Leasing Co. (GTLK) has taken delivery of its first three Russian Helicopters Mi-8AMTs, the manufacturer said. The aircraft are to be used for emergency medical transport in remote areas of Siberia and the Russian Far East.

The helicopters are equipped with “medical modules,” Russian Helicopters said, that are designed to provide emergency assistance on land and in flight, and for resuscitation.

“In accordance with the program of the government of the Russian Federation, we are working together to revive the country's air ambulance, "said Alexander Scherbinin, deputy general director for marketing and business development for Russian Helicopters.

The deal, signed in 2016, covers the delivery of 13 Mi-8AMTs. Russian Helicopters said that another deal signed during the Russian International Aviation and Space Salon covers the delivery of 12 additional Mi-8AMTs.
