The amphibious aircraft will be put into production in Tin at the earliest in 2021 after obtaining airworthiness approval and obtaining a type certificate.
In order to seize the opportunity of the development of the navigation industry, in 2014, the City Transportation Group, the Municipal Industry Development Group, and the German Dornier Family Holding Company jointly established the Dornier Seawing Co., Ltd., mainly engaged in the R&D and production of the GM Starfish aircraft. The core business of manufacturing and sales, Wuxi headquarters is the production and operation base of the aircraft, and the German subsidiary is responsible for the research and development of aircraft, airworthiness and evidence collection.
The reporter saw at the Wuxi headquarters base yesterday that the general assembly workshop, training center, adjustment workshop, painting center, power center and other regional buildings have all been completed, and peripheral greening has been put in place, and a modern factory is now in sight. The core area of the base - the air conditioning, aviation wells, multi-point driving and other facilities in the assembly shop responsible for the assembly and commissioning of the whole machine are fully installed. There are 12 aircraft total installed positions on both sides of the east and west, and the whole machine workshop is 162 meters long and 15 meters high. It far exceeds the automobile production workshop, and the production requirements of constant temperature and humidity will be maintained after the workshop is commissioned. A German-made amphibious aircraft parked at the warehouse will be used for daily teaching and training.
“After relevant acceptance, the base will be the first to be put into operation in the Navigation Industrial Park. Initially, personnel training and production of non-flying parts of composite materials will be mainly carried out.” According to relevant persons of the Municipal Transportation Group, the aircraft that had been launched in Germany earlier had completed the airborne system. The key design review, the first flight license program has also been approved. The person also revealed that as the world's largest all-composite amphibious aircraft, the Starfish aircraft can be used for commercial operations and private business flights in the future, and can also be used for air patrols, air ambulances and emergency rescues. The maximum range of the aircraft is 1,667 kilometers, cruising. The speed can reach 333 kilometers per hour. The Wuxi base has an annual assembly capacity of 48. Although the marketing has not yet started, it has received inquiries from customers in Thailand and Singapore.
According to industry insiders, as the first Sino-German cooperation project in Jiangsu, which integrates R&D, production and final assembly, the implementation of the Haiyi Aircraft Project is of great significance for Wuxi to build high-end manufacturing and accelerate the development of the navigation industry.
