The project began technical exploration in 2015, was established in 2018, and delivered to Air Force Aviation University for test evaluation in 2020. It has now been further applied in the training of flight students.

Innovation is demand-driven, technology-driven, and it is also a kind of practical verification. based on the growth law of student pilots’ skills and combined with the characteristics of the use of VR technology, the team uses this "three axe" to break new ground.

Traditional flight simulators cannot fully exploit the training potential of simulation training due to the low fidelity of the visual scene, the limited use angle of the field of view, the high purchase price of a single machine, the high requirement of training guarantee resources and the requirement of training hours.

With the continuous application of VR technology in the field of trainers, the team has inspired the idea of applying this technology to the field of flight training-whether it is possible to build virtual training equipment based on VR technology to turn fixed-point training into "flexible" training.

Innovation is originally a process of "hard work". In the process of technology application and program design, two major problems need to be solved-one is how to make scientific choices in the configuration of the cockpit environment; Interaction ability is not timely.

In order to overcome the problem, the team started with the theory of pilot ability generation and introduced anti-jamming motion intelligent capture technology. At the same time, senior trainer aircraft R&D personnel, mature pilots/instructors, and flight students are invited to put forward proposals for optimization.

In order to verify the application effect of this technology, the team developed a VR training equipment based on a certain type of domestic trainer. The cost of a single aircraft is only about 10% of the traditional flight simulator, and the effectiveness of flight student skills increases by more than 90%, which can effectively reduce the flight Psychological pressure, shorten the training cycle, and reduce the elimination rate.

The project effectively solves the problems of traditional flight simulators such as high procurement cost, limited deployment, difficulty in group training, and limited training hours, which cause flight students to only be trained in small batches, and provides new technical means and training equipment for pilot training. .

The project team combined the characteristics of the use of VR technology to build an interactive virtual training system based on the Elementary School 6 and Elementary School 8 aircraft, and completed the pilot/instructor skill growth test and verification, as well as the flight student training evaluation and data collection, which verified the effectiveness of VR technology. Availability in the field of flight training-Effectively shorten the flight training time, ground teaching time, screening and elimination rate, technical grounding rate, etc.
