Information of TTFly: Stemme is bringing its new Twin Voyager S12 flagship motorglider to EAA AirVenture this week with EASA type certification in hand and U.S. FAA expected shortly. Stemme (Booths No. 208 and 209) will display the motorglider alongside the Peak Performer S10-VT during AirVenture.

The German manufacturer unveiled the S12 prototype during the 2015 AERO Friedrichshafen show and received European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) type certification this past March.

The company has more than 20 orders in hand for the aircraft that features an 82-foot wingspan to achieve a glide ratio of up to 53. The aircraft is powered by a 115-hp Rotax 914 F2/S1 turbocharged engine and is fitted with a folding propeller that disappears into the dome during glide mode for improved aerodynamics. The S12 also is equipped with an autopilot and a new luggage compartment in the fuselage.

“With the S12 we have further refined the original Stemme idea and offer pilots two complete aircraft in one,” said Stemme CEO Paul Masschelein. “The S12 delivers the comfortable travel of a powered aircraft along with the pure adventure of gliding.”
