The Commercial Pilot License is for pilots planning to fly for compensation or hire. The commercial training includes requirements in addition to the requirements for private pilot. It is the first step towards becoming a professional pilot.
To be eligible for a Commercial Pilot Certificate, a person must:
Be at least 18 years of age
Hold at least a Private Pilot Certificate
Hold at least a FAA Second Class Medical Certificate
Obtain a minimum of 250 total flight hours, which must include a minimum of 100 hours as Pilot in Command, 50 hours of cross-country flight, and 10 hours of solo flight
Pass FAA knowledge and practical examinations
Average course completion time: 3-6 months
Average immersion training time: 5-10 days
