Below is a list of requirements to become a private pilot.
Minimum aeronautical experience to be eligible to take the private pilot practical test:
40 hrs of flight time (at least 20 hours of flight training and 10 hours of solo) *2.5 of the minimum 40 hours required may be flown in our simulator.
Of the minimum 20 hours of flight training, the FAA requires:
3 hrs of "cross country" flight training. A "cross country" flight is one wher the destination is at least 50 nautical miles (nm) away from the departure point.
3 hrs of night flight training, of which a cross country flight over 100nm total distance must be completed, in addition to 10 takeoffs and landings at night.
3 hrs of flight training on flying solely by reference to instruments. This is wher the student flies without looking outside the airplane, to simulate flying in reduced visibility.
3 hrs of flight training in preparation for the private pilot practical test within 2 calendar months of the practical test
Of the minimum 10 hours of solo time, the FAA requires:
5 hours "cross country" flight time
1 cross country flight with a total distance of 150 nm, with stops at three points and one of the legs being greater than 50 nm.
3 takeoffs and landings to a full stop at an airport with an operating control tower.
At Blue Line Aviation, it is realistic for a student to obtain a Private Pilot Certificate near the minimum 40 hours, depending on the student's aircraft choice, membership status, timeline, and dedication to training.
