Description
If you are a new Commercial Pilot and are looking to build your hours, becoming a Flight Instructor can be a great option for you. Or if you love working with people and get joy out of helping people accomplish their goals of being a pilot, Flight Instructing can be a very rewarding career.
Prerequisite
To become a Flight Instructor, you must already hold a Commercial Pilot Licence
Course Requirements
based on minimum Transport Canada requirements
Minimum 30 hours of fuel training
5 of these hours are Instrument Training
25 hours of ground school is required
Passing grade on Transport Canada written exam and flight test
Length of Course
This course follows suit with all other aviation courses, the timeline depends on the student and their availability to fly. However, if you are flying full time, you should be able to complete your Instructor Rating in 6 weeks.
Privileges and Limitations
Upon first completing the Instructor Rating, you will be a Class IV Flight Instructor. You will be allowed to teach flight training for the issue of licences and permits (mainly PPL and CPL), but will be required to be supervised under a Class I or Class II Flight Instructor.
