Setting the standard for single-aisle commercial jet engines
Developing 18,500 to 34,000 lbs of thrust, the CFM56® sets the standard for single-aisle commercial jet engines. With more than 27,800 engines delivered, the CFM56 is the best-selling engine in the history of aviation. It mainly power single-aisle jetliners from the world's leading planemakers, Airbus and Boeing. The CFM56 owes its success to its exceptional performance and reliability, built on the proven technological excellence of Snecma and GE. With dispatch reliability of close to 100% and unrivalled time on wing helping to drive down the cost of ownership, the engine now powers aircraft for nearly 550 operators worldwide. While its successor, the new LEAP® engine, will enter service in 2016, the CFM56 keeps going from success to success: demand remains strong, with over 4,100 CFM56 engines on order at April 30, 2015. once the LEAP has entered service, Snecma and GE will continue to provide comprehensive through-life support to optimize fleet availability during the CFM56's remaining service lifetime of over 30 years. In addition, CFM will continue the volume production of parts to maximize engine availability (demand for parts is forecast to peak in around 2025).
