With the ability to interact with sensors, acquire and process data and share it on a network or other standard avionic buses, ROCK-2 features all the core functions to fulfill the requirements of C4ISR applications.
Deterministic communication pipe
For mission computers, failure is not an option. You need to ensure that information circulates from one point to another in a deterministic way with known timings. Featuring a full mesh network, all 3U slots of the ROCK-2 System implement a dedicated communication pipe with each other. This avoids transfer congestion, increases bandwidth parallelization and eliminates the risk of bus hold. Each communication pipe relies on PCIe Gen2 links delivering at least 2000 MBps.
The right function at the right place
The need for more IO as well as the requirement to cope with higher processing power along the lifecycle of a product has driven CES to the following modular architecture:
Single Board Computer XMC mezzanine, easily upgradable and scalable
Avionic IO, GPUs and Video interfaces on 3U VPX carriers with XMC site
Unique projects require unique customization
Each mission computer serves a specific purpose; each requiring different interfaces to the outside world. To this intent, ROCK-2 front panel and custom IO board can be easily modified to suit your needs.
However, customization does not stop here. Our systems feature a spare slot which is used to add program specific functions and/or simply off-load the main CPU(s).
Because safety matters
“Design for Safety” is one of CES core competences. The ROCK-2 product family is engineered with Design Assurance Level (DAL) safety certification in mind, systematically applying DO-178C/DO-254 design rules, documentation and independent verification and validation.
ROCK-2 supports mixed safety-critical level of HardWare Configuration Item (HWCI) and Computer Software Configuration Item (CSCI) thanks to its multi-slot/multi-processor partitioned architecture. Upon request we can deliver ROCK-2 Mission Computers with all the documentation and artifacts required for an RTCA DO-178C/DO-254 certification up to level C. Contact your CES representative regarding needs for higher levels of certification.
