Whether your aim is to fly for fun or to become a career pilot, Private Pilot License (PPL) Ground School is the place to start your flight training. The more ground knowledge you have, the more likely you are to enjoy your flight training and feel confident with what you are doing once you’re in the air. You will also be more likely to develop good flying habits from the get go! This course provides an important introduction to the theoretical basis of flying and is an inexpensive way of finding out if flight school is for you. Our experienced and talented instructors will instill the confidence you’ll need to feel comfortable in the cockpit once you start flight training.

The Private Pilot Ground School is approximately 40 hours long and covers the following topics.
Theory of Flight
Meteorology
Navigation
Instrumentation
Air Law
Critical decision making
Flight operations
Course Schedule
PPL Ground School is offered multiple times throughout the year as demand dictates. Classes are held two nights a week from 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm over a course of seven weeks at Western Maritime Institute in Ladysmith, BC. If the existing schedule (below) does not work for you, we have some flexible options and recommend that you discuss these with our Chief Flight Instructor.
