Instrument Rating IR
Instrument Rating refers to the qualifications that a pilot must have in order to fly under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR). Instrument rating is a must if you want to become a professional pilot and is useful when flying long distances as a private pilot.
Course entry requirements
Minimum age of 18 years
First Class medical certificate
At least PPL holder
English language skills
The privileges of a holder of an IR(A) are to pilot airplanes under IFR with a minimum decision height of 200 feet (60 m).
Decision heights lower than 200 feet (60 m) may be authorized by the JAA after further training and testing.
Once the course has been completed, the applicant will posses the following flight hours:
55 flight hours, of which:
40 hours in a single engine.
15 hours in a multiengine.
