China Southern Airlines is set to launch two nonstop services to Toronto, Canada and Adelaide, Australia in early December.

Commencing on December 7, the airline will offer thrice weekly flights directly between Guangzhou and Canada's largest city. China Southern will operate the trans-Pacific route using a 309-seat, four-class Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

Toronto will become China Southern's second destination in Canada and its fifth in North America, following Los Angeles, Vancouver, New York and San Francisco.

Meanwhile, on December 12, the Guangzhou-based carrier will start flying its Airbus A330-200 aircraft to Adelaide, marking the first nonstop service between the Australian city and mainland China.

Currently, China Southern connects Guangzhou with Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Auckland and Christchurch in Oceania, as well as Shenzhen-Sydney route.

With the launch of Adelaide service, the airline will cover all major cities in the continent, operating 56 weekly flights to Australia and 19 weekly flights to New Zealand.

Several other Chinese airlines are planning to expand in Canada this year, including Tianjin Airlines' first ever trans-Pacific flight - Chongqing-Tianjin-Vancouver from June 2016, Xiamen Airlines' Xiamen-Vancouver from July 2016, Sichuan Airlines' Chengdu-Vancouver and Capital Airlines' Hangzhou-Qingdao-Vancouver planning in November 2016.
