Garmin is introducing a host of ADS-B solutions through its authorized dealer network that will bring lower-cost equipment options to 50 of the most popular business jet models.

The Olathe, Kansas, avionics maker says its suite of ADS-B products covered under an approved model list certification program will “address the market’s desire for a cost-effective ADS-B In/Out solution, while leveraging existing equipment to minimize cost and installation time associated with an ADS-B upgrade.”

“For nearly two decades, Garmin has been the leader in ADS-B with the most fielded solutions in the industry, and today we are leveraging this experience by bringing a variety of cost-effective ADS-B solutions to thousands of business aircraft owners and operators,” said Carl Wolf, vice president of aviation marketing and sales.

Garmin says the ADS-B solutions comprise several configurations optimized for each individual aircraft type. For non-TCAS II aircraft, the GTX 345R/GTX 335R ADS-B transponders provide operators with a remote-mount solution and include ADS-B In/Out with options for built-in WAAS. ADS-B Out requirements are met with the GTX 335R, and the GTX 345R ADS-B In/Out transponder brings capabilities for ADS-B traffic, subscription-free weather, GPS position data and back-up attitude information for display on the Garmin Pilot and ForeFlight Mobile apps via Bluetooth and Garmin Connext wireless technology.

TCAS-II-equipped aircraft can utilize the GDL 88 ADS-B datalink and GTX 3000 Mode S Extended Squitter (ES) transponder to meet the FAA’s 2020 ADS-B Out mandate. The GTX 3000 leverages the GDL 88’s internal WAAS/SBAS receiver to broadcast aircraft identity, state and intent information (DO-260B compliant) to air traffic control and provides operators with a WAAS position source. Adding Garmin’s Flight Stream wireless datalink to the solutions offers pilots wireless access to FIS-B weather and traffic.
