Three new Sikorsky S-92s provided by CHC Helicopter are designated for Shell in Broome, Australia, the operator said. This is an extension of a 2012 Shell contract, with an additional Sikorsky S-92 currently in service.
The aircraft will support Shell’s Prelude floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) project. One of the first projects to produce natural gas at sea from offshore platforms, the product will then be transferred to a fleet of ships for transportation directly to customers. This process is more economic, as well as environmentally conscious.
CHC Helicopter also offers services in search and rescue; emergency medical transportation; maintenance, repair and overhaul; and flight training. Along with the Sikorsky S-92, the company’s fleet includes the Sikorsky S-76 A++, C+ and C++; the Airbus Helicopters AS332 L, L1 and L2; the Airbus H225; the Airbus AS356 N series; the Airbus EC155 and the Leonardo AW139.
