As the winter chill sets in, Hong Kong's low-fare airline HK Express is chasing the sunshine... all the way to Guam! The low-fare airline is pleased to announce its inaugural flight to Guam, which took off today, December 15, 2016. The new, nonstop route will operate 4 times a week, offers convenient daytime departures that were not previously available.
The much-anticipated launch was marked with an exciting event at Hong Kong International Airport. Andrew Cowen, Director and CEO of HK Express, Kurt W. Tong, Consul General of the United States to Hong Kong and Macau joined Edmund Hui, Account Director of Guam Visitors Bureau, Hong Kong Representative Office, welcomed the first flight's Guests with photo ops and special giveaways.
The festivities continued upon arrival at Guam International Airport, wher representatives from the Guam Government and Chinese Chamber of Commerce were on hand to offer a warm island welcome.
"Guam welcomes HK Express to its family of airport operators. The non-stop link to Hong Kong offers Guam residents another option to reach major Asia destinations," said Charles H. Ada II, Executive Manager of the A.B. Won Pat International Airport Authority, Guam.
"The daytime operation to Hong Kong also offers residents travel options that are not currently available in Guam. The partnership we've established with this route is very important to our growth; we are certain that we will see growth in this market with HK Express' low-fare options, and we anticipate that this route will enhance our business profile as a viable destination in the Asia Pacific region."
Located in stunning Micronesia, Guam is in a remote area of the sun-soaked Western Pacific Ocean. A U.S. territory, Guam has seen rapid growth as an up-and-coming island getaway, perfect for action-oriented travellers who are keen to dive, surf, hike and explore the truly unqiue Micronesian culture.
The Hong Kong-Guam route has been in the making since 2015, when HK Express asked its social media followers to name their dream travel destinations. Guam garnered the most votes - and now the low-fare airline is bringing the campaign full circle.
"HK Express is one of the only airlines in the world that would let its loyal Guests decide wher to fly to next!" said Andrew Cowen, Director and CEO of HK Express. "We are thrilled to see the incredible momentum generated by our growing community of passionate travellers. In Guam, we look forward to providing an affordable alternative and facilitating connections throughout the region."
To ring in the new flights, HK Express is rolling out unbeatable introductory deals for HK$865* up - including taxes, carrier, and government-imposed fees. Guests can enjoy the promotion any time before January 15, 2017. Travel dates are just as flexible, running through July 13,2017.
