Tips:After the opening of VTL flights, Singapore Airlines' number of passengers soared 4 times in October

Singapore Airlines Group’s traffic statistics for October just released show that almost all indicators are significantly better than the October 2020 data.

In October 2020, Singapore Airlines only carried 40,700 passengers and provided 1,372,300 available seat miles. In October 2021, Singapore Airlines transported 165,500 passengers and provided 4.5445 million available seat miles. Both of these figures have increased by about 4 times.

Singapore Airlines said in a statement released on Tuesday: "In October 2021, Singapore Airlines Group will expand the Vaccine Travel Channel (VTL) to Denmark, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States, Brunei and Germany." This is also the reason for the surge in passenger traffic of Singapore Airlines in October.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore reported on the 11th that since September 1, October 12, November 1, and November 8 the VTL vaccination has been opened four times to exempt passengers from entering the country, and 36,034 VTL entry passes have been issued. Among them, Europe accounted for the majority, accounting for 69%; the UnitedStates followed, accounting for 16%; Australia accounted for 7%, South Korea accounted for 6%, Canada and Brunei each accounted for 1%.

Singapore will open the Vaccine Travel Corridor (VTL) with Indonesia and India on November 29. Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates will join the program on December 6. With the addition of these fivecountries, 21 countries will open the Vaccinator Travel Corridor with Singapore, including the Vaccinator Air Travel Corridor that Changi Airport will open with Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur International Airport on November 29.

As more countries and regions join Singapore’s VTL program, it is expected that Singapore Airlines’ passenger numbers and other data indicatorswill further increase.

SIA President Wu Junpeng revealed at a briefing on the 12th that nearly80% of SIA’s passenger aircraft will be active this month. The current passenger volume is 37% before the epidemic, and it is expected to rise to 43% next month. Wu Junpeng revealed that since China adopts a zero-tolerance strategy, this means that it is unlikely that China will open VTL entry exemption quarantine in the foreseeable future.
