A pilot has walked away without injury after his small plane clipped parked cars and crash-landed on a Los Angeles street.

Nobody on the ground was hurt as the single-engine plane crash-landed around 1:30 p.m. Monday just outside Whiteman Airport in Pacoima.

The plane smashed the roofs and windshields of two parked cars before winding up in the street with its right wing broken off.

Ian Gregor of the Federal Aviation Administration says the Mooney M20 tried to return to the airport for unknown reasons shortly after departing.

The pilot told the Daily News of Los Angeles that he was on landing approach when a wind gust blew him off course. The pilot said he had power and fuel at the time.
