Melbourne,
Florida aviation services provider Baer Air has rebranded itself as Apex Executive Jet Center. Established in 2003, the company started out as a charter operator offering limited scheduled service to Florida and Bahamas destinations using piston aircraft. Since then it has expanded to turboprops and jets, aircraft management, maintenance and full
FBO services.
“As we routinely provided aircraft maintenance and services to our own fleet, we quickly realized the need for a first-class FBO that could satisfy the needs of the Melbourne Internatio
nal Airport, transient aircraft and tenants,” noted company president Gary Hall. “These past four years we’ve brought on a number of line technicians and customer service representatives with a combined work experience of more than 40 years.”
Last September, the location broke ground on a more than $3 million expansion project, which includes 60,000 sq ft of ramp, enabling it to accommodate aircraft up to a BBJ, as well as a new 28,000-sq-ft hangar, which will bring the location up to 52,000 sq ft of aircraft storage space. A new 10,200-sq-ft terminal, triple the size of the current structure, will round out phase one of the company’s planned redevelopment. The existing terminal will be retained as home to Apex’s new FAA-certified air ambulance services, which will begin later this year.
Phases two and three will add another 24,500 sq ft of hangar space and another 53,000 sq ft of ramp to accommodate the company’s maintenance division and additio
nal aircraft parking.
