MD Helicopters said it has sold a MD 530F to the Virginia Beach Police Department Aviation Unit.
The unit's helicopter operations provides aerial law enforcement services, including search and rescue, and surveillance, from 7 a.m. to 3 a.m Eastern time, seven days per week, according to the department's website.
The helicopter features a Rolls-Royce 250-C30 turbine engine, extended landing gear, Fargo 21-gallon auxiliary fuel tank and a wire-strike protection system. Its equipment for low-light operations include high-contract rotor blades, a FLIR Star SAFIRE 380 HDc electro-optical/infrared system, TrackBeam A800 searchlight and a NVISB interior.
It's glass cockpit includes a Garmin 500H EFIS flight display, Garmin GTN650H touchscreen GPS panel, Garmin GMA 350H audio panel and more.
The unit will receive its aircraft in the second quarter of 2018, according to MD.
