Bombardier has announced orders for two new Learjet 75s from a UK-based private charter, as the manufacturer’s executives re-assure questioners about the longevity of the super-light.

Zenith Aviation will double the size of its Learjet 75 fleet with the new order, says Bombardier.

The order also helps extend the Learjet 75’s backlog, which remains sold out until mid-2018, Bombardier says.

The company believes the last remaining Learjet type can remain in production for several years at a rate of one new aircraft delivery per month.

The production site in Wichita, Kansas, was built to produce several dozen Learjets per year, but Bombardier says the line can remain economical because the location has diversified.

In addition to producing new Learjets, the Wichita complex is maintenance base for the worldwide fleet and for Global-series jets. Bombardier also uses the site to operate flight test missions for all business jets and commercial aircraft.
