At the 2021 Dubai Air Show held today, Emirates announced that it will install high-end economy class products on its 105 modern wide-body airliners. It also announced other cabin upgrade plans, such as the possibility of upgrading the business class of its Boeing 777 aircraft to a 1-2-1 layout.
This 18-month renovation plan will begin at the end of 2022 and will be carried out at Emirates’ engineering center in Dubai. By then, 52 Emirates A380 airliners and 53 Boeing 777 airliners will be equipped with the new highly acclaimed high-end economy class. In addition, Emirates is also considering installing new business class products on the Boeing 777 aircraft, using custom seats with a 1-2-1 layout.
On the Boeing 777, the 5 rows of economy class seats behind the business class will be removed and 24 premium economy class seats in a 2-4-2 layout will be installed. On the A380 passenger plane, 56 high-end economy class seats will be installed at the forefront of the main cabin, also in a 2-4-2 layout.
