On December 29, 2021, a Cessna 560 school-flying plane took off and landed at Huahu Airport in Ezhou, Hubei Province. This marked the completion of my country’s first professional cargo airport and the start of check flights. The airport is on schedule for 2022. Putting into operation lays the foundation.
Zhu Fanghai, chief engineer and deputy general manager of Hubei International Logistics Airport Co., Ltd., said that checking the aircraft is equivalent to a medical doctor who issues a "birth certificate" for the new airport, and flying is a prerequisite for the airport to start flights as scheduled. This school flight is expected to take about one month. The airport’s communications equipment, navigation equipment, navigation aids, lighting equipment, and flight procedures will be tested in an all-round way. The results of the school flight are expected to be released by the end of January 2022.
As my country's first professional cargo airport, Ezhou Huahu Airport has an air cargo terminal of 23,000 square meters, a sorting center of 678,000 square meters, 124 aircraft seats and two runways of 3,600 meters long and 45 meters wide. It is estimated that by 2030, the annual cargo and mail throughput of Ezhou Huahu Airport will reach 3.3 million tons, and the annual passenger throughput will reach 1.5 million.
It is reported that Ezhou Huahu Airport is expected to have a total investment of 31.018 billion yuan. At present, the three major airport projects (airport engineering, SF transshipment center and aviation base engineering, and aviation oil engineering) have accumulated an investment of 23.56 billion yuan, and it is expected to be open to navigation in mid-2022. . Its commissioning will speed up filling up the shortcomings of my country's air cargo and promote the high-level opening of the central region to the outside world, which is of great significance to the construction of a new development pattern in which the domestic and international dual cycles are the mainstay and the domestic and international dual cycles promote each other.
