Pratt & Whitney today released the GTF Advantage (GTF Advantage) engine, which is the most efficient and sustainable single-aisle aircraft engine in the world.

Pratt & Whitney GTF Advantage™ engines for Airbus A320neo series aircraft further enhance the economic and environmental benefits of existing GTF engines. The GTF advantage configuration reduces the additional fuel consumption by 1%, which strengthens the engine's leading position as the most efficient power unit in the A320neo series. Compared with the previous generation engine, this engine reduces fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions by 17% in total. In addition, the GTF superior engine will be compatible with 100% sustainable aviation fuel when it is put into service, helping the aviation industry realize its promise of achieving net zero emissions by 2050.

This new configuration can bring higher thrust to airports in sea level and "high-temperature plateau" areas. With each engine's take-off thrust of up to 34,000 pounds, the advantageous configuration makes GTF the most powerful engine in the A320neo series. The higher rated thrust supports the airline to increase its range and load, and open more destinations.

Compared with the previous generation engine, the Pratt & Whitney GTF™ engine used in the Airbus A320neo series has reduced fuel consumption and carbon emissions by 16%, and has been certified to run on 50% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
