In what company officials are calling an aviation industry first, Hartzell Propeller has extended the warranty on its Top Prop conversion propellers all the way through first overhaul.
This is the longest warranty for propellers offered anywher in the general aviation industry, according to company officials.
“As a pilot and aircraft owner myself, I know that cost is a big hurdle to the success of general aviation,” said Hartzell Propeller President Joe Brown. “We are doing our part to reduce costs while at the same time promoting safety through recommended periodic maintenance.”

The new warranty is effective on the entire line of Top Prop propellers delivered after July 1, 2016, at no additional cost. It further extends what was already the longest warranty program in the industry, which was three years or 1,000 hours, whichever came first, Brown noted.
Hartzell’s Top Prop performance conversions provide a way for pilots to improve performance of their aircraft. Owners can expect enhanced performance in one or more areas, including shorter takeoff distances, lower noise levels, better ground clearances, reduced tip erosion, increased climb rate, increased cruise speed, and smoother operations, according to company officials.
The new Top Prop warranty period varies based on the propeller type and utilization under Hartzell’s recommended TBO intervals published in Service Letter HC-SL-61-61Y.
Examples under the new Top Prop warranty:
2, 3 and 4 blade Compact and Bantam Propellers, with aluminum or composite blades, up to 2,400 hours or 72 months;
3, 4 and 5 Blade Steel Hub Turbine Propellers, with aluminum or composite blades, up to 3,000 hours or 60 months; and
4 and 5 Blade Lightweight Turbine and Raptor Propellers, with aluminum or composite blades, up to 4,000 hours or 72 months.
