  • Description
  • As a Cessna Pilot Center and a FAA Approved Part 141 flight school, Ocean Aviation is your best choice for all your flight training. Being a Part 141 Flight Academy means we are overseen by the FAA and must maintain a level of professionalism most flight schools do not choose to attain. As a Cessna Pilot Center, we offer a computer-based curriculum that is recognized by the aviation community as one of the finest learning experiences available to prospective students. The Cessna Pilot Center private pilot course is available only at Cessna Pilot Centers.

We believe that the most important rating you will attain is the private pilot certificate, as that is the basis upon which all your other flight training will be built. It is the foundation. Don’t settle for less than professional flight training available at a FAA Approved Cessna Pilot Center. Don’t settle for less than Ocean Aviation.

    Train at the Beach

Ocean Aviation is four miles from the world famous resort of Ocean City, Maryland. Live at the beach and train above the most beautiful resort on the east coast. Our weather is perfect for your flight training all year around. Plus, we are less than an hour’s flight time from the most complex airspace in the country. We offer real world flying experience and a vacation lifestyle.

    Our Airspace

Ocean Aviation is based at the Ocean City Municipal Airport. When choosing a flight school, so many things should be considered. One of the biggest considerations should be, can I train in the airspace wher the flight school is based? Is it overcrowded, is it restricted? Do I have to spend my flight training funds to fly away from the school to somewher wher training is permitted?

At Ocean Aviation, the airspace above and within 50 miles in all directions is class “E” airspace. That means the area around our airport; in fact, right above our airport is perfect for your flight training.

Surprisingly, so many flight schools are based in congested areas wher flight training is prohibited. Your time spent in the aircraft flying is costly and should be spent training, not flying away from your school to begin your lesson.

    Our Staff

Our staff of FAA and Cessna certified flight instructors are ready to prepare you to become a private pilot and then onwards, toward advanced ratings if you choose. What You Need To Get Started

The FAA Private Pilot Certificate is a certificate issued by the Federal Aviation Administration, which allows a person to legally operate an aircraft with passengers and baggage.

The transportation Security Administration requires us to make a copy of your birth certificate and photo ID issued by a government agency or a United States Passport to verify that you are a United States citizen. If you are not an American citizen, you will also need to complete a TSA screening process. No worries, we can guide you through that process as well. once TSA screening is complete, you are ready to enroll in our Part 141 private pilot course.

Before you decide that it seems too difficult, let us assure you that we are there not only to teach but also to guide you. From your initial interview, your first instrument flight, your first instrument cross country, throughout this experience, our professional staff will be there to answer questions and help make this not only a learning experience but a fun experience that will change your life.

Possess at least a third-class FAA medical examination

Pass the written aeronautical knowledge test.

    Time and Hours

The Federal Aviation Administration, under part 141 of the Federal Aviation Regulations has set a minimum time for an applicant to obtain an instrument rating at 35 hours. Each of our students sets their own training schedule and the time it takes to complete their training will be impacted greatly by the number of lessons they choose to complete each week. Our goal is to provide the most professional training available and complete your training within 35 to 45 hours. We refer to those students training every day as accelerated training. To participate in accelerated flight training under our FAA Approved 141 program, students should be prepared to immerse themselves in the private pilot course to the extent required to move rapidly though the training. Most candidates will fly between two and three hours daily and will allow an additional two to four hours for computer based training. Most candidates can expect to complete our course in twenty one days. However, we schedule thirty days of training to allow for unexpected delays such as weather and other delays that could impact the student’s progress.

Some students are more comfortable training on a more relaxed schedule, choosing lessons once to twice weekly. We can accommodate individual schedules with the understanding that the course will naturally take longer to accomplish and cost will be higher due additional lessons that might be required due to any refresher training that may be required. However, the cost per hour remains constant, regardless of the course schedule you choose.
