Combat Simulation (virtual)
In the field of ground-forces simulation, Rheinmetall Defence supplies made-to-measure solutions ranging from computer-based training to driving and gunnery simulators for individual and crew training, as well as network-enabled training systems for conducting live and virtual exercises at echelons from platoon to brigade, featuring every form of combat support. Rheinmetall Defence has developed and operates the largest, most advanced live combat training facility in Europe, the Gefechtsübungszentrum Heer (GÜZ), in the Altmark region north of Magdeburg.
Another unmatched example is the ELTAM Combined Arms Tactical Trainer which enables simulation-supported training of the command and staff elements of an entire combat battalion or battle group in a virtual environment including all supporting elements.
Operators of highly complex technical systems have to be fully familiar with the capabilities and operational uses of such systems. Training and simulation systems from Rheinmetall Defence Electronics prepare users optimally for their tasks in a realistic environment with original control units, presentation of the environment with high-resolution visual systems and motion systems for the facility/equipment being reproduced.
The CGST is a reconfigurable and modular training system that is not limited to a specific platform, it is adaptable to virtually any armoured and armed platform. It is developed for gunnery crew training as well as combat training on platoon level and beyond. In its current configurations, it represents the Leopard2 A4 and has achieved customers in Canada and Indonesia. The CGST is based on the Rheinmetall high-end scenario generator Tacsi® plus high-fidelity simulation components including a sophisticated ballistics simulation and the power of Virtual Battlespace3 (VBS3) as the visual system.
Moreover the fidelity of the crew training station can be freely chosen according to the needs and the training philosophy. Also different stations with different fidelities can be intermixed in a network, as the underlying simulation software is the same and always has the same functionality.
