  • Description
  • The private helicopter pilot license is the very first step in the path to understanding the principles of vertical flight. You can start your training from scratch, wit no aircraft or helicopter experience. If you already have an aircraft pilot license, your re-training will be easier but you will get he very same amount of flight experience volume.

Our complete Private Pilot Training Course includes 40 flight hours, providing 20 hours with an instructor and at least 10 hours of solo flights on the helicopter.

During our training program you will learn how to hover the helicopter, to move in all possible directions, make turns during hovering, and how to carry out maneuvers at low speed near the ground.

Then you will start to fly in a circle, while simultaneously studying of different approach procedures – using a normal glide path, a steep glide path, and a shallow glide path. You will also learn all possible equipment failures and autorotation procedure principles in case of helicopter engine failure. After performing your first solo flight, you will start your final training stage – preparing flight routes. This includes flight-planning, submission of a flight-plan, receiving a briefing, and performing flights in a monitored space, etc.

At the end of our course, the student must pass our internal examination given by the Skyeagle Academy chief pilot and then he or she may be allowed to take the FAA-examination with a dedicated examiner. The private pilot license examination includes a theoretical part, which can take up to 3 hours, and a practical part, which includes execution of maneuvers in the helicopter in accordance with the PTS requirements.

Entry Requirements for the Helicopter Private Pilot Course:

    1. A medical certificate of Class 3 or higher

    2. At least 18 years old

    3. TSA-authorization for foreign students

All the students have to pass a written FAA test during training, before performing their first solo flights.

After successful FAA-checkride, our graduates obtain an FAA Private Pilot License, which allows them to fly any helicopters.
