The commercial helicopter pilot license opens up totally new horizons and allows you to perform helicopter flights for remuneration or hire. This license affirms that its owner is proficient in helicopter operation, knows the law, and can ensure the safety of his passengers in the vast majority of situations.
The examination for this type of license quite difficult and requires significant helicopter flying experience and brilliant flying techniques. The professional helicopter pilot has to perform all complex maneuvers safely. She/he has to be able to land the helicopter and take off from a limited area at the maximum power limit and to understand the principles of helicopter aerodynamics.
Minimum entry requirements for candidates:
A private pilot license;
At least 150 hours of flight time, which includes not less than 100 hours on flying aircraft with engines, wher at least 50 hours were performed in a helicopter;
At least 100 hours as the pilot in command, including 35 hours in a helicopter and 10 hours of cross country helicopter flights;
20 hours of training flights with an instructor in accordance with the Commercial Helicopter Pilot Program.
During training the student has to pass a written test on flight theory. At the end of the course the student must successfully pass a check-ride with an examiner.
TIME BUILDING
Those students who have finished any helicopter private pilot course but still don’t have enough flight time to start this commercial pilot course may gather additional hours on our Robinson R22 helicopter, or carry out time-building and instrument rating programs while taking the course.
