Centrifugal casting is when centrifugal force is employed to exert pressure onto molten metal as it is poured into a spinning mold -- resulting in a dense part with a fine uniform grain structure. The centrifugal force presses the molten metal against the inner wall of the mold, densifying the metal. The wall thickness is determined by the amount of poured metal.
Centrifugal casting is typically used for:
Cylindrical components
Components exposed to frictional wear
Benefits of Centrifugal Casting
Superior Quality
Densified metal reduces shrinkage, porosity and gas-related defects.
The component integrity and wear resistance are ideal for frictional wear.
Flexibility and Options
Centrifugal castings are supplied in a semi or finished machine condition.
A variety of molds are available for speedy pours and deliveries.
