Cathay Pacific Airways plans to take delivery of 12 Airbus A350 XWBs in 2016 and fly its last Boeing 747-400 passenger jet from Haneda to Hong Kong on Oct. 1, the carrier disclosed in its half-year result this week.

Meanwhile, the Hong Kong-based carrier is set to retire all of its A340-300 airliners by the end of 2017. The airline phased out two 340s so far this year and one more will leave the fleet in the second half of the year. The remaining four will depart in 2017.

Moreover, the oneworld airline will retire its last three 747-400 passenger aircraft by October. It has also delivered two 747 freighters to Boeing this year, and will hand over the final two in August and September. Cathay Pacific took delivery of its final Boeing 747-8F freighter in August.

Furthermore, Cathay Pacific revealed it has 71 widebody aircraft remaining on order through 2024, which include 19 A350-900s, 26 A350-1000s, 21 777-9 Xs, one 777-8F and five used 777-300ERs.

Cathay Pacific has reached a deal with Emirates to buy 5 of their Boeing 777-300s in its fleet which the latter had originally planned to retire, said a source revealed earlier via Facebook. The 5 777s will be delivered to Cathay in 2018, to replac the 5 777-200s currently in its fleet.

As of June 30, Cathay operated a fleet of 145 aircraft, about half of which are owned, comprising of A330s, A340s, A350s, 747s and 777s.
