It has been more than four months since Sikorsky's S-92 fleet reached its 1 million flight hour milestone, but celebrations kept going last week in the North Sea Region, according to a company news release.

On Monday, the "Thanks A Million" campaign reached Aberdeen, Scotland, and then Stavanger, Norway, on Tuesday.

Celebration ensued in the form of a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Stavanger at the Norway Airport on Tuesday, when Sikorksy presented the newly expanded forward stocking location (FSL). The FSL at Aberdeen Airport Dyce is the newest facility, with operations to begin in the third quarter. Lockheed Martin, Sikorsky's parent company, has invested in three around the globe.

The Thanks A Million campaign aims to recognize customers, operators, suppliers and employees for their contributions to the S-92’s success. Flying offshore missions, the North Sea Region is the largest S-92 operating area in the world.

More than 275 aircraft constitute the S-92 fleet, which was able to meet the flight hour milestone in less than 12 years. Of the 1 million hours, 87% were flown in support of offshore missions. The dual-engine rotorcraft also has an accident rate less than one-tenth of the U.S. Civil Multi-Turbine engine helicopter rate.
