China Eastern Airlines said Thursday it will add 10% more capacity on international and domestic routes to cope with the travel rush during the National Day holiday.
The Shanghai-based carrier plans to operate more than 15,000 flights and offer up to 6.6 billion seat-kilometers between September 30 and October 7, an increase of 10% respectively compared with the same period of last year.
The airline projects the pre-festival travel peak will fall on Sep. 30, while the returning peak of passengers will start from Oct. 6 and Oct. 7.
Flights will be added on hot destinations at home and abroad to meet strong travel demand, including popular domestic cities like Chengdu, Guilin, Sanya, Xi'an and overseas routes like Kunming-Qingdao-San Francisco and Chengdu-Manila, etc.
In addition, China Eastern will deploy Airbus A330 wide-body aircraft on its international routes to hot tourist destinations in Japan, South Korea and Thailand.
The airline advises customers to arrive at the airport earlier than usual to leave enough time for check-in and security checks as an increasing number of people choose to travel during the holiday.
