Panaji: To mark the completion of two years at the helm of the state, the Laxmikant Parsekar government intends to ink the concession agreement for the greenfield airport at Mopa with GMR Goa International Airport Limited on November 8.
The state government also stated that it will hike the compensation for farmers whose land has been acquired for the proposed Mopa airport. "We will start releasing the compensation on Monday, nearly 31 crore of additional compensation has been budgeted for this," Parsekar said.
Even farmers, who received compensation earlier, will receive the hiked compensation.
The state government has acquired 78.41 lakh square metres of land from the villages of Casarvarnem, Chandel, Varconda, Uguem and Mopa in Pernem taluka.
GMR Airports Limited has formed a special purpose vehicle - GMR Goa International Airport Limited (GMRGIAL) to construct the international greenfield airport at Mopa. The SPV has six months to raise funds for the airport. GMRGIAL will raise the funds, design, construct and operate the airport.
