A Leonardo AW139 is getting outfitted with Spectrum Aeromed's medical interior for Canadian air ambulance operator Ornge, the company said. The helicopter is deployed to a remote base in Moosonee, Ontario, wher it will replac an older aircraft that previously served in the James Bay region.
The AW139 went into service with Spectrum's articulating stretcher, three-drawer medical cabinet and other equipment.
Ornge currently operates two Sikorsky S-76s and 10 AW139s. This new one will join a fleet that is currently being used in both Canada and the U.S. Not only are the AW139s being used for emergency medical transport, but they’re also being used in law enforcement and firefighting.
