Mexico’s Navy has taken delivery of its third and fourth Airbus Helicopters AS565 MBe Panthers and its second Airbus H225 Super Puma, according to news reports. These deliveries come as part of a 2014 contract for 10 Airbus panthers and two Super Pumas. The rest of the Airbus Panthers are expected for delivery by early 2018.
AS565 MBes are medium helicopters outfitted for anti-surface unit warfare, with capability to loiter for more than four hours. They have 100% composite Fenestron shrouded tail rotors, which yield high safety and low noise levels. The controversial Airbus Super Puma is a heavy, multi-role helicopter. It has all-weather capability with night-vision-goggle support. The 700-nm range can be lengthened with its air-to-air refueling capability.
