Air Methods has acquired three Airbus Helicopters H145s, the manufacturer said. One is designated for the Virginia Commonwealth University Health System, while the other two are headed for St. Louis Children’s Hospital in Missouri.
Both facilities have selected the H145 to updat aging fleets. In Virginia, the hospital is looking to replac its Airbus EC135P2+2. The St. Louis Children’s Hospital wants to replac its MBB/Kawasaki BK 117s. Members of the H145 family feature more payload and longer range than the Eurocopter model and more space in the cabin than the MBB/Kawasaki BK 117.
The final product will include interiors that can seat up to four attendants. The helicopters should be operational in the spring of 2017.
