Utility and humanitarian missions in Africa are set to gain a helicopter, said Waypoint Leasing Ltd. The Irish company has agreed to lease one Airbus Helicopters H225 to Global Helicopter Service GmbH, a German company with some operations in Africa.
This is the first time Waypoint has leased to Global Helicopter Service, and the leaser said it is confident it is not the last time. Global Helicopter Service has a strong presence in West and Central Africa in particular, working with United Nations and Doctors Without Borders, among others.
The H225 is the newest addition to the manufacturer’s Super Puma family. It can carry two pilots and 19 passengers and has a maximum takeoff weight of 24,251 lb. The cockpit features four-axis, dual-duplex autopilot and health usage monitoring system (HUMS) capability.
