New South Wales, Australia, now has access to Toll Rescue Helicopter Service in its Southern Zone, Toll Group said. In partnership with NSW Ambulance, Toll is now offering patient rescue, retrieval and treatment services, operating from the new Toll and NSW Ambulance Rescue Helicopter base in Sydney. The new Southern Zone contract includes rescue helicopter bases at Bankstown, Wollongong, Orange and Canberra.

These new operations are part of NSW government’s $151.2 million statewide Helicopter Retrieval Network. The Reform Plan for Aeromedical (Rotary Wing) Retrieval Services in NSW divides the state into the Northern Zone and Southern Zone.

The Toll and NSW operation has a fleet made up of eight new, purpose-built Leonardo AW139s. The aircraft seats one or two pilots and up to 15 passengers. It features a Honeywell Primus Epic fully integrated avionics suite and four-axis digital automatic flight control system (AFCS).
