Volo Mission’s second-annual firefighting seminar is planned for March 3 and 4 in Greenville, Texas. U.S. Forest Service Helicopter Check Pilot John Harris is scheduled to headline the two-day event. Representatives from Barry Cordage, SEI-Industries and onBoard Systems are slated for equipment safety and maintenance presentations on long lines, Bambi buckets and cargo hooks, respective.

Among the topics to be covered during the seminar include communication and terminology, the Interagency Helicopter Operator Guide, operations and safety procedures, and the pilot carding process.

“We want to provide the best and most realistic training we can for pilots entering the long line industry,” Volo Mission Co-owner and President Kimberly Hutchings said. “We are committed to focusing exclusively on training, educating and informing the external-load/utility industry and we believe industry-specific seminars, such as aerial firefighting, are a great way to do this. We have found there is a real need for this type of training and we feel it is important to provide an opportunity for pilots and companies to learn something new or even perhaps be reminded of what they have forgotten.”
