Information of TTFLY: Erickson Inc. and Australian partner Kestrel Aviation Ltd. have been awarded a two-yr $24 million contract extension to provide wildland helicopter firefighting services in Australia.
Both Erickson and Victoria-based Kestrel will provide aerial firefighting support among six S-64E Aircrane helicopters during Australia's bushfire seasons in October through March.
Erickson has been fighting fires in the area since 1997. The S-64 Helitanker Aircrane is a heavy-lift helicopter that has undergone continuous improvements to be capable of lifting up to 10 tons of water. Erickson is the FAA Type Certificate holder and manufacturer of the Aircrane and currently performs firefighting mission in five countries, including the U.S. and Greece. Kestrel provides heavy and medium firefighting and emergency response helicopters in Australia.
