Information of TTFly: Northrop Grumman is to offer its LCR-100 series of inertial instruments on Textron Aviation’s Beechcraft King Air turboprops.

Beechcraft has chosen Northrop’s LCR-100N hybrid navigation unit as an option on the aircraft, with it being certified and applied initially to King Air special mission variants.

Developed by Northrop’s Germany-based navigation systems subsidiary, Northrop Grumman LITEF, the LCR-100N consists of fibre-optic gyroscope-based inertial measurement units and microelectromechanical system triad accelerometers.

The unit features gyro-compassing and hybrid navigation, including ARINC outputs, which are essential for Required Navigation Performance flight operations. The LCR-100N, together with the flight management system, supports operations in extreme northern and southern latitudes and allows for coasting through satellite outages.

The LCR-100 and LCR‑100N have already been introduced on several members of Textron Aviation’s Cessna Citation family of business jets.
