AOG and on-site support
Even the smallest part can have a major impact on the new flagship's operational reliability and availability. Lufthansa Technik's AOG Material Desk is perfectly set up to support even the largest aircraft such as the A380 on a global scale with rapid material support. And the mobile repair specialists from Lufthansa Technik's renowned Airline Support Teams (AST®) are ready to fly out and support customers on site.
Economies of scale in components
To handle the ever-growing need for leading component services, Lufthansa Technik and Air France joined forces and founded Spairliners, which ensures full component support from repair to AOG assistance for the fleets of A380s around the globe. Spairliners offers A380 operators a one-stop shop solution and A380 customers enjoy cost benefits that are normally only achievable by large fleets.
Ultra-modern engine support
Operational since 2007, N3 Engine Overhaul Services facility in Arnstadt, Germany – a joint venture with manufacturer Rolls-Royce – represents one of the world's most advanced and best-equipped engine shops worldwide. Furthermore, the engine shop at Frankfurt also has commenced the comprehensive servicing of the A380's Trent 900 engine.
Dedicated maintenance hangars
Lufthansa Technik's A380 hangar in Frankfurt covers nearly four league-sized soccer fields and rises to 27 meters without a single column. Ameco Beijing's hangar in China even has enough space to work on four A380s simultaneously, and Lufthansa Technik Philippines has added another A380 hangar in 2012.
Ground support and VVIP completion
Ground support specialist Lufthansa LEOS has inaugurated the newest tow tractor, capable of towing the A380, and has developed the rear dock for the A380 hangar in Frankfurt. Furthermore, Lufthansa Technik's Completion Center in Hamburg is preparing to fit out a VVIP version of the world's largest commercial aircraft.
