Three Chinese carriers have filed applications with the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), seeking to operate international services to Japan, New Zealand, Russia and Indonesia.
Shenzhen Airlines plans to launch a new service to Shizuoka, Japan, starting in January 2017.

Pending government approval, the Shenzhen-based carrier will operate the Xi'an-Nantong-Shizuoka service twice weekly, using Airbus A320 or Boeing 737-800 aircraft, according to an announcement released Thursday on the website of the CAAC.

Capital Airlines has applied to launch two services to Melbourne and St. Petersburg.
The Beijing-based carrier plans a thrice-weekly Beijing-Qingdao-Melbourne service and a twice-weekly Hangzhou-Wuhan-St. Petersburg service, with planned launches in December 2016 and February 2017.
Both routes will be operated by Airbus A330-200 aircraft, the CAAC added.
Besides, Xiamen Airlines has applied to launch flights on the Fuzhou-Bali route from this October.
The Xiamen-based carrier is seeking to operate four times weekly, using Boeing 737/738/757/787 aircraft.
Currently, there is no direct flight between Fuzhou and Denpasar, and Shenzhen Airlines will be the only operator on the Xi'an-Nantong-Shizuoka route; while Capital Airlines will compete with Air China between Beijing and Melbourne, but will hold a monopoly on the Hangzhou-St Petersburg route.
The Air Transportation Department of CAAC is soliciting public comments on the applications until 5:00 p.m. on September 18, 2016.
