The Ghana Police Service will for the first time experiment the use of drones as a dress rehearsal ahead of the December polls.

The police will monitor the National Democratic Congress (NDC) manifesto launch at the Sunyani Coronation Park in the Brong Ahafo Region on Saturday with drones.

The exercise forms part of the new strategy adopted by the police to engage in an effective and efficient political activity monitoring to quell any form of electoral violence in the coming general elections.

According to images by Joy News, the police were seen testing the drone ahead of the NDC’s big gathering.

The drones were donated to the police by the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCO) to support it in its operations, especially during the 2016 general elections.

The drone, worth between $10,000 - $20,000, is expected to improve police monitoring operations from the sky.

Do you think the police can make the maximum use of the drones?
