Bombardier Aerospace delivered 36 business jets in the third quarter, down from 43 from the year-ago period, the company reported today. The latest mix included seven Learjet 70/75s, 13 Challenger 350s, six Challenger 605/650s and 10 Global 5000/6000s versus seven 70/75s, 18 Challenger 350, three 605s and 15 Globals last year.

nly Challenger 605/650 deliveries are up year-over-year during the comparative periods. For the year, Bombardier expects to surpass its guidance of 150 business jet deliveries, with company president and CEO Alain Bellemare telling investors that he expects to hand over 40 to 50 Learjets, Challengers and Globals in the fourth quarter.
Things are also looking better on the order front; Bombardier recorded net orders for 22 business jets in the quarter versus a net loss of 32 last year. Book-to-bill during the quarter was 0.8:1, which Bellemare said he hopes will reach at least 1:1 in the fourth quarter. Business jet backlog now stands at $16.5 billion, down from $17.2 billion at the end of 2015.
The division also posted a third-quarter profit of $84 million and revenues of $1.314 billion versus a $1.115 billion loss and revenues of $1.558 billion last year. The large losses in third-quarter 2015 are attributed to the cancellation of the Learjet 85 program.
